The 19th international exhibition on food, beverages and processing and packaging technology kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on September 9.

The Vietfood & Beverage – ProPack 2015 drew 350 businesses from 20 nations and territories such as Denmark, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Turkey, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, China and Japan.

On display are food, processed foodstuff, beer, soft drink and equipment to process and preserve food and beverages.

The business community is set to arrange a number of activities to promote their trade names and products to consumers, importers and exporters at home and abroad.

A beverage fest is taking place concurrently with the exhibition, attracting the participation of prestigious companies such as the Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation (Sabeco), the Hanoi Alcohol Beer and Beverage Company (Habeco), the Vietnam Brewery Limited and the Vietnam Coca Cola company.

A series of other sideline activities include a trade conference between Vietnamese and foreign businesses, a cuisine fair, a brewery contest, an exchange programme with food and beverage sponsors and a tour of food factories.

Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s southern operations department Pham Thi Thanh Minh highlighted the annual expo as important revenue for domestic and foreign enterprises to seek partners and expand markets.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; the HCM City Food & Foodstuff Association; the Vietnam Beer, Beverage & Alcohol Association; and the Vietnam Tea Association, the event is taking place at the Tan Binh Exhibition & Convention Centre until September 12.-VNA
