HCM City (VNA) – More than 150 car models of 18 renowned brands will be put on show at the second Vietnam International Motor Show (VIMS 2016) in Ho Chi Minh City from October 26-30.

The information was revealed by General Director of the official Audi importer in Vietnam Laurent Genet at a press conference held in the city on September 20.

He noted that in the previous event, only nine premium car brands and over 50 car models were displayed.

The 2016 motor show is considered the biggest ever expo with the engagement of around 120,000 visitors, he said, referring to such popular brands as Audi, Bentley, BMW, Infiniti, Jaguar, and Lamborghini.

The presence of Ulyanovsky Avtomobilny Zavod (UAZ) – a Russia’s familiar brand with outstanding features and new functions is expected to impress car lovers and mark the return of UAZ to the Vietnamese market.

Hundreds of pavilions showcasing car components, spare parts and accessories as well as financial and banking services will be included in the event.

A special feature of VIMS 2016 will be the announcement of Ibeacon – a totally new application allowing users to update detailed information on hi-end car brands and explore VIMS activities.

In 2015, Vietnam’s automobile market set a record with 245,000 units sold, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturer's Association (VAMA).

In the first half of 2016, nearly 126,800 cars were sold on the Vietnamese market, a 31 percent year-on-year increase.

VAMA expects that automobile sales for 2016 will reach 260,000 units, a year-on-year rise of 10 percent.-VNA
