International partners have pledged to continue cooperation with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) in 2013, focusing on implementing major programmes and strengthening State management in this field.

The partners made the commitment at an annual meeting hosted by the ministry in Hanoi on March 8.

MoNRE Minister Nguyen Minh Quang said his ministry is implementing 58 foreign-supported programmes and projects with total pledged capital of nearly 430 million USD.

Since 2009, it has mobilised 850 million USD for climate change adaptation programmes and projects, he added.

According to the minister, Vietnam has set up strategic partnerships with Denmark and the Netherlands in climate change response and water resource management.

The ministry has also received support from many other countries, including Japan, New Zealand, France, Finland, Sweden and Australia, as well as international organisations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).-VNA
