Hanoi (VNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said his country wants to forge cooperation with Indonesia in combating terrorism as well as ensuring security and peace for Islamic countries. 

Speaking at a reception for visiting Speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia Zulkifli Hasan on December 6, the President said the two countries hold great potentials to cooperate in many fields, particularly trade.

He noted stronger engagement in banking services is necessary to the development of their economic relations, expecting annual bilateral trade revenue to hit 2 billion USD as soon as possible.

Hassan Rouhani said Iran and Indonesia share common cultural features, which facilitates cultural collaboration between the sides.

For his part, Zulkifli Hasan hailed progress recorded in bilateral ties.

Both countries have made efforts to boost cooperation and are on their way to lift trade and commerce affiliations to new heights, he added.-VNA
