Hanoi (VNA) – Italy’s Sardinia region pays attention to stepping up cooperation with Asian nations, including Vietnam, which is emerging as a promising destination for Italian businesses.

Vice President of the Italian autonomous region of Sardinia Raffaele Paci made the remark at a recent working session with Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Cao Chinh Thien in Cagliari city.

Ambassador Thien highlighted the growing relations between Vietnam and Italy thanks to the regular exchange of the two countries’ Government and State delegations.

The exploration of cooperation opportunities in trade and investment between Vietnamese and Italian localities has become a common trend that benefits businesses, he said.

The two sides agreed to support and promote the collaborative ties among enterprises in potential fields, especially tourism, farm produce, and traditional food.

Raffaele Paci said the region’s authorities are particularly interested in the Vietnam Foodexpo to be held in Ho Chi Minh City in November 2016.

Paola Piras from the Cagliari Chamber of Commerce earlier told Ambassador Thien that the region plans to bring its farm produce and traditional dishes to the event.

The Vietnamese diplomat expressed his belief that with the joint efforts, more Vietnamese businesses will know Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, as a tourist and trade destination.-VNA
