The Italian Government will provide 39.46 million EUR to carry out several environmental projects in Vietnam, according to the Italian Embassy in Vietnam.

The sum, including 38.10 million EUR as soft loan and 1.36 million EUR as non-refundable aid, will go to two environmental sanitation projects in Ca Mau city and Quang Nam province’s Nui Thanh town and a project to fight drought in Binh Thuan province.

Documents to this effect are scheduled to be signed on May 8 between representatives from the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Italian Embassy in Hanoi.

The projects in Ca Mau and Nui Thanh will help improve the drainage systems, and flood and storm control capacity. Waste water in the projected areas will be collected and treated following national standard.

In Binh Thuan, a 14.8 million cu. m reservoir and a safe water supply with a capacity of 10,000 cu.m a day will be build to supply water to 1,500 ha of agricultural land and 135,000 residents.

Those projects is expected to be completed in five years./.
