The Japanese Government has committed to fund a 3 million USD project to upgrade Hanoi public transport system through its international cooperation agency (JICA).

The project, signed in Vietnam ’s capital city on February 24 between the municipal People’s Committee and JICA, will be carried out in three years to improve bus services in the nation’s second most populous city which is plagued by serious traffic jams.

The image of Hanoi’s public transport is expected to improve as bus services will become friendly and convenient, thus attracting more bus commuters and reducing traffic jams, according to the project donor and executive at the signing ceremony.
