The Japanese Embassy in Vietnam on March 13 signed a contract with the northern port city of Hai Phong's Fire Fighting and Prevention Department to upgrade fire services in Vietnam.

Under the 51,000 USD contract funded by the Japanese Government, the department will receive five used fire engines, two of which will be sent to the central city of Da Nang.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki said he hoped that the friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Vietnam will be deepened in the coming time.-VNA
