The Japanese Consulate General in HCM City will provide 97,000 USD to a project on enhancing poor women’s healthcare in the southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

An aid agreement to the effect was signed between the Japanese Consulate General and the Vietnam Midwives Association in HCM City on Nov. 18.

The project, part of the Japanese Government’s non-refundable aid programme for localities, will provide medical facilities and equipment to be used at the Ba Ria town medical centre to detect cervical cancer and provide medical care for mothers and newborns in the province.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Japanese Consul General Mizuki expressed the hope that the project will help improve reproductive health care for women in remote areas of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province and that the Japan-Vietnam friendship will be further tightened./.
