The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) has presented the “For Peace and Friendship Among Nations” insignia to writer Hiramatsu Tomoko, member of the Japan - Vietnam Council for Peace and Friendship (JVPF).

The honour was handed over by VUFO Vice President Tran Dac Loi at a ceremony in Hanoi on August 1.

Speaking at the event, Loi said the award aimed to acknowledge the fine sentiments and gratitude of the Vietnamese people to the writer’s noble deeds to Vietnam over past years.

As a member of JVPF since 2005, Tomoko had taken part in cultural exchange activities between the two countries and presented scholarships to ethnic boarding school students in the outlying district of Ba Vi and the northern province of Phu Tho.

In the position of Head of the JVPF delegation in Saitaman prefecture, she participated in activities to help Agent Orange/dioxin victims in Vietnam, especially those in the central province of Quang Nam.

Tomoko said she would make continued contributions to Vietnamese AO/dioxin victims./.
