The Japanese landing ship Kunisaki on June 6 docked at Tien Sa port, central Da Nang city, bringing crewmembers aboard to join the 2014 Pacific Partnership programme.

The programme, held from June 6-15, aims to boost the sharing of experience and professionalism in the health sector, mainly for army doctors from countries in the Pacific region.

In addition to cultural and sports activities, many symposiums will be held in the framework of the programme, focusing on a range of fields such as emergency aid, medical treatment for burned patients, and issues related to pediatric heart diseases.

The crewmembers will pay a courtesy visit to key officials of the municipal People’s Committee and the High Command of Military Zone 5, and support the upgrade of a medical station in Ngu Hanh Son district.

The Pacific Partnership, promoted by the United States Navy (USN), aims to improve collaboration between the region’s military forces and charitable organisations during disaster relief operations, while providing humanitarian and medical assistance to regional countries.-VNA
