A painting exhibition themed “War and Peace through a Child’s Eyes” is underway in Ho Chi Minh City .

The event, organised by the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City and Okinawa-Vietnam Friendship Association, introduced 49 works by children in Vietnam and Japan ’s prefecture of Okinawa , which highlight their love of peace.

Nine of the 49 pictures were painted by children from Okinawa and have won awards at competitions in Japan.

There is also a poem composed by Ueha ra Rin, a sixth grader at Yonahara School in Okinawa.

The event, which runs from July 2-16, will help domestic and international visitors to get a deeper insight into children’s dreams and aspirations of freedom, peace and what they think of school.

The paintings also illustrate what Vietnamese and Japanese children think about war and peace and their hopes for a world free from war, which is what ordinary people around the world all strive for.-VNA
