Lam Dong fines company for illegally discharging wastewater
The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong has imposed an administrative penalty of 425 million VND (18,700 USD) on Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Co., Ltd (Acom) for illegal sewage discharge.

million VND (18,700 USD) on Atlantic Commodities Vietnam Co., Ltd (Acom) for
illegal sewage discharge.
In a raid last month, the province’s environmental police force discovered Acom was dumping wastewater that did not meet water-quality standards with the level of BOD5 over five times higher than the accepted limit.
The company’s sewer was not connected to any treatment system while it did not operate environment protection facilities properly or on a regular basis as required by regulations.
Lam Dong also ordered the firm to remove the illegal pipelines for waste disposal and come up with solutions to cope with the water pollution it caused.-VNA
