Hoang Binh Quan, member of the Party Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations, received in Hanoi on August 20 a delegation of the Lao Red Cross (LRC) led by its President Laoly Faiphengyoua.

At the meeting, Quan said the Lao delegation’s visit contributes to the people-to-people exchange activities, celebrating the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

He highly valued the outcomes of the visit, as well as effective cooperation between the two countries’ Red Cross Societies over the past time.

The Party and State leaders of Vietnam are interested in and create favourable conditions to enhance cooperation between the two countries’ organisations, including the two Red Cross Societies, Quan affirms.

He expressed his hope that the two Red Cross Central Committees will increase the exchange of information and experience, especially in reducing poverty, eradicating hunger and supporting people in difficult and remote areas, with special attention given to training for officials.

Quan also called for conditions to promote the Red Cross societies at the grassroots level to strengthen cooperation and mutual support.

For his part, Laoly Faiphengyoua thanked the Vietnamese Party and State leaders and the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee for their valuable support to the LRC over the past time.

The LRC will closely coordinate with its Vietnamese counterpart to effectively implement signed agreements, he affirmed.-VNA
