Laos’ 10th National Party Congress to take place next week
The 10th National Party Congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) will take place in the capital of Vientiane from January 18-22.
Lao Party General Secretary Choummaly Sayasone (Source: Reuters/VNA)During the five-day event, delegates will study and pass the Party Central Committee’s political report and the socio-economic development plan (2016-2020), aiming to help the country escape underdevelopment by 2020 and to increase the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) to over 7.5 percent a year.
In addition, they will approve the amended Party Statute and elect members of the LPRP Central Committee’s next tenure. -VNA
