Laos and China have emphasised the reinforcement of comprehensive strategic partnership and the implementation of cooperation agreements reached by their leaders for the sake of the two peoples.

The emphasis was made at meetings between President Chummaly Saynhasone and Prime Minister Thongsinh Thammavong of Laos and China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi on August 3 during the Chinese official’s visit to Laos.

In his two-day stay in Laos, Wang Yi held talks with his Lao counterpart, Thongloun Sisoulith, during which they discussed in depth plans to deploy the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership in economics, trade, investment, education, health care and socio-culture and other areas.

Wang Yi reiterated the Chinese Government’s desires to soon carry out the Laos-China railways project and to lend the Lao Government to implement its safe water supply project in Vientiane capital city and prevent dengue fever.

Both sides pledged to support each other in regional and international issues while exchanging views on the matters of mutual concern.-VNA
