Laos and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to continue maintaining exchange of visits and sharing information, while boosting their partnership in economics as well as other potential areas on the basis of mutual benefit.

The agreement was reached during the talks between Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and DPRK Foreign Minister of Ri Su-yong in Vientiane on August 5, as part of the latter’s two-day visit to Laos .

They noted that over the past years, bilateral ties between Laos and DPRK have grown steadily through regular exchange of delegations at all levels.
Thongloun Sisoulith lauded Ri Su-yong’s visit which, he said, would significantly contribute to furthering the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples.

During the talks, the two sides also agreed to continue consulting regional and international issues of mutual concern.

Later the same day, Ri Su-yong paid courtesy calls to Lao President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong.-VNA
