The 10-day event, beginning on August 18, is also intended to introduce Laos culture and promote products made by Lao people and businesses nationwide.
At the opening ceremony, Vientiane ’s Vice Mayor Saithong Keoduongdi said the event aims to mark the 37 th Uprising Day of Vientiane (August 23), the 50 th anniversary of Laos-Vietnam diplomatic ties, and 35 years of the signing of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Cooperation Treaty. It also heralded the ninth Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), which will take place in Laos in November.
On this occasion, an ASEAN Trade Centre, run by President of the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Vientiane Nguyen Duy Trung, made its debut in Vientiane.-VNA
