A total of 120 couples joined Vietnam’s largest-ever collective weeding in Ho Chi Minh City on December 12, 2012.

Organised by the HCM City Youth Support Centre, the wedding was held for couples who are working in Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho city, and Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Thuan and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces.

With only a nominal contribution of 1 million VND each couple, the participants got full services, including flowers, make-up, cars, costumes, and photos, on the special occasion.

In addition, each couple was also presented with 2 million VND in a bank account, a pair of wedding rings worth 2.8 million VND and an outdoor trip during which they will be provided with skills to build a happy family.

All costs for the collective wedding, at nearly 3 billion VND, were paid for by donations by organisations and individuals nationwide.

The event, which was timed for the special day of 12/12/2012 , was recognised as a Vietnam record of the biggest mass wedding.

Since the first was held in 2008, the HCM City Youth Support Centre has organised collective weddings for more than 200 worker couples.

The same day, a mass wedding of 20 couples also took place in the northern province of Vinh Phuc. The event was organised by the provincial committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.-VNA
