The Australian travel website Qantas Travel Insider has recently listed world heritage Luang Prabang town in Laos among the world's 11 most romantic wedding destinations.

Luang Prabang, ranked fifth in the list, retains the rare charm of another era, with traditional wooden houses alongside grand colonial mansions, and a daily procession of monks through the ancient streets.

It is also home to dozens of temples, many of them beautifully decorated and golden clad, casting an almost surreal glow at sunset, stated the website.

Paris came first, followed by Maasai Mara in Kenya, Monte Carlo in Monaco, and Ravello in Italy in the list of Qantas Travel Insider, one of the world’s leading travel publications, which is home to over 6,000 online exclusive city guides, features and galleries.

In 2015, the leading British travel magazine Wanderlust named Luang Prabang as the world’s best city to visit.

Wanderlust readers previously ranked Luang Prabang as “best tourist destination” for three consecutive years from 2006-2008.

Currently, the authorities of the province are preparing to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Luang Prabang as a World Heritage Site.-VNA
