A major transmission line and a transformer station costing a combined 41 million USD have finally come on line to improve connection between the southwest power system and the national grid, according to the National Power Transmission Corporation.

The second transformer with a capacity of 450MVA of the O Mon 500kV transformer station and the 220kV power transmission line between Vinh Long and Tra Vinh provinces were both launched on April 25.

Construction on the transformer started in September 2011 with a total investment of 306 billion VND (14.5 million USD) funded by the World Bank and the corporation’s own capital.

Meanwhile, the power transmission line is 62.2 km long. Besides the corporation’s investment, the WB also provided part of the line’s total cost of 554 billion VND (26.3 million USD).-VNA
