Malaysia's Immigration Department on February 8 arrested 200 foreigners in Kuala Lumpur during the second phase of a national campaign to flush out illegal immigrants .

General Director of the Department Aloyah Mamat said the arrested individuals, comprising of 30 men and 170 women, are between 20-40 years old. They are from Indonesia, Pakistan, Thailand and several other countries.

Aloyah said her agency conducted a joint crackdown on February 8 with the participation of 220 staff and volunteers from the country’s police agencies, the N ational Registration Department , the Anti-Corruption Commission, the Civil Defence Department and the Ministry of Public Health.

The department has so far carried out 438 events to hunt down illicit immigrants nationwide, capturing 3,550 people and 30 unlawful employers./.
