The state-owned Mexican News Agency Notimex is willing to help promote the people and culture of Vietnam to the Latin-American countries, said Notimex’s Director General Alejandro Ramos.

Alejandro Ramos made the statement at a reception for Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Le Linh Lan on December 17.

At the event, he appreciated bilateral cooperation between NOTIMEX and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), vowing to expand their collaboration in the coming time.

In the short term, Notimex and VNA will produce several audiovisual programmes on the Vietnamese gastronomy, culture, tourism and economics in a bid to bring an insight on the country to the Mexican and Latin-American people, according to the NOTIMEX Director General.

He agreed with the organisation of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the Mexico-Vietnam diplomatic ties, including the “Vietnamese Culture Week” in 2015.

Ambassador Lan expressed her thanks for NOTIMEX’s support for Vietnam, including VNA, in disseminating information on the land and people of Vietnam as well as the country’s achievements in its renewal process.

She said she hopes that Notimex will continue to assist Vietnam in promoting the country’s image.

VNA and Notimex set up bilateral cooperation in 1998. The two sides signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation for the 2014-2015 period in June this year.

Notimex has so far provided two training courses for VNA reporters.-VNA
