the State’s stance on non-privatisation of the press and declared the
reorganisation of press association activities.

reorganisation of press association activities.
The press belongs to the Party and State as stipulated in the Press Law, Son told a press briefing following the monthly government’s meeting in Hanoi on April 1.
He said several State-owned conglomerates and corporations are running their own press outlets and that it should not be the case, Son said.
In the face of several instances of unlawful ventures between the private sector and the press in 2005-2006, the government asked the ministry to fine-tune regulations on press management, he added.
According to the minister, association activity should be restricted to publishing science, society, and entertainment news as it is now, citing the 2009 Circular guiding association activities in the production of radio and television programmes.
Also at the briefing, Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Nguyen Van Nen said officials found guilty in the Hanoi green tree replacement and Dong Nai river dyke projects will be held accountable.
He also revealed that during the National Assembly meeting in May, the Government will suggest amending Article 60 of the Law on Social Insurance that will allow workers who have not met required social insurance contributions and are therefore not eligible for pensions be entitled to a lump-sum social insurance payment.-VNA
