Mongolian President Tsakhia Elbegdorj said he hopes for more student exchanges between his country and Vietnam.

Meeting with students of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi on November 22, the president said Vietnam and Mongolia share time-honoured and growing relations which have been reinforced in various fields such as agriculture, medicine, security, defence, trade and tourism.

Responding to the students’ questions, the Mongolian leader said that the country follows a diplomatic policy of peace, multilateralism and non-alignment.

It wishes to expand its ties with all countries in the world and cooperate with international organisations like NATO and the United Nations.

Mongolia gives special encouragement to women’s involvement in the political system in order to improve their role in society, he noted.

He also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Mongolia will further their multi-faceted ties in the time to come.

Both countries plan to hold an intergovernmental meeting to work out cooperation measures and organise programmes to celebrate the 60 th anniversary of their diplomatic relations next year.-VNA
