Many provinces and cities nationwide, along with organisations and enterprises operating in the central province of Quang Ngai, have presented almost 28 billion VND in cash and essential commodities to households in the most flood-hit areas in the locality.

Of the total, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee donated 1 billion VND; Ho Chi Minh City, over 4.2 billion VND; the Vietnam Commercial Bank’s office in Quang Ngai , 550 million VND; the Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade, 18 billion VND; the Quang Ngai Sugar JSC, 600 million VND, t he provincial Fund for Sponsoring Children, 70 million VND.

Le Viet Chu, Chairman of the Quang Ngai province’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee chapter said the committee will continue calling for further support to help people in flood areas overcome the consequences in the coming time.

As of November 19, losses caused by the floods were estimated at 1.73 trillion VND (82.38 million USD). Many transport routes in the province are still blocked due to landslides.

From November 19-21, thousands of people affected by floods the province were provided with free treatment and medicine, particularly for digestive disorders, skin diseases and conjunctivitis.

The provincial Health Department has also asked local hospitals and clinics to proactively carry out preventive measures to detect and avoid diseases caused by flooding.

Meanwhile, the province asked the Government to allocate 350 billion VND to help it rebuild and supply 2,000 tonnes of rice, 800 tonnes of rice varieties and essential medicine to the local people.-VNA
