The Vietnamese Embassy in Belgium on Sept. 6 held a ceremony to mark the 66 th anniversary of Vietnam ’s August Revolution and National Day (Sept. 2).

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belgium and Luxemburg Pham Sanh Chau spoke highly of the development of Vietnam-Belgium cooperation in various fields.

Belgium is now Vietnam ’s fifth-largest European export market, Chau said, adding that the two countries are working on many cooperative projects worth millions of USD in science and technology.

On the occasion, Ambassador Chau, who is also Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the EU, thanked the Belgium Government and people for their efficient support, especially Belgium ’s selection of Vietnam as the only Asian nation to be assisted with official development assistance (ODA).

Chau said he hoped that the two sides would strengthen their cooperation and mutual support to elevate relations between Vietnam and EU, as well as Belgium , to a new height, while contributing to consolidating cooperation with ASEAN at a time when Vietnam is holding the post of the Chair of the ASEAN Brussels Committee (ABC).

Earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) hosted a banquet to celebrate the National Day anniversary.

Speaking at the function, Vietnamese Ambassador to the DPRK Le Quang Ba said the Party, State and people of Vietnam always attach importance to the cooperation and friendship with the DPRK Party, State and people and would make every effort to cultivate and develop the fine traditional relationship.

His views were echoed by DPRK Minister of Foreign Trade Ri Ryong Nam, who said the government and people of the DPRK always treasure the traditional friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and would do their utmost to enhance the relationship in all fields./.
