A senior Vietnamese official on October 18 handed over 2.1 billion VND (100,000 USD) in support of Wutip storm victims in the central province of Ha Tinh.

Expressing his sympathy over the losses suffered by the locals, head of the Central Relief Board and General Secretary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Vu Trong Kim pledged to call for more donations from home and abroad to help them recover quickly.

The same day, Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Border Guards Maj. Gen. Nguyen Canh Hien donated one billion VND (50,000 USD) to storm victims and 500 million VND (25,000 USD) to families of local border guards in Ha Tinh.

The Quang Binh provincial Red Cross Society, meanwhile, granted 10 tonnes of rice to 376 households in Sen Thuy commune and 120 million VND (5,700 USD) to 100 households in Mai Thuy commune, Le Thuy district.

At the request of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, 40 tonnes of rice went to the districts of Minh Hoa, Quang Trach, Dong Hoi and Le Thuy earlier. A total sum of 960 million VND (45,700 USD) also reached 868 households in Tuyen Hoa, Quang Trach, Bo Trach, Quang Binh, Dong Hoi and Le Thuy districts.

Also on the same day, Vietnam Toyota and its Vinh outlet donated gifts worth over 200 million VND to 531 households in Canh Duong and Quang Phuc communes.-VNA
