Khair Mundos, the leader of the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf, and one of the most-wanted figures by the US, was arrested by Philippine police on June 11.

The US Government has offered a reward of 500,000 US dollars for his capture, who is considered to be the financier and mastermind of Abu Sayyaf, an Islamic militant group blamed for the worst extremist attacks in the Philippines.

The group, founded with money from Al-Qaeda, has carried out deadly bomb attacks and kidnappings, often targeting foreigners and Christians.

Mundos was once captured in southern Philippines in 2004, but escaped from prison in 2007.-VNA
