Myanmar closes river border with Thailand ahead election
Myanmar has closed all border ports and checkpoints along Moei river opposite to Mae Sot, Phop Phra, Mae Ramat and Tha Song Yang districts in Thailand’s Tak province.

The Myanmar side explained that the move aims to prevent armed ethnic groups hiding in Thailand from crossing the border to harm Myanmar’s election on November 8.
Thailand also appointed infantry brigade No. 4 and border guard brigade No. 35 to patrol border areas with Myanmar.-VNA
