Speaker of the Assembly of the Union of Myanmar Thura U Shwe Mann arrived in Vietnam on September 5 to begin an official four-day visit to Vietnam.

The trip is made at an invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung who visited Myanmar in July 2013 to enhance ties between the two nations’ legislative bodies.

Vietnam and Myanmar have taken measures to promote cooperation in a wide range of fields from agro-forestry, aquaculture, transport and energy to health care and culture, as well as coordinated at international and regional forums such as ASEAN, the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and Cambodia-Laos-Myamnar-Vietnam (CLMV) cooperation mechanism.

Vietnam is targeting over 1billion USD in investment in Myanmar by 2015 and 2-2.5 billion USD by 2020 as the country is emerging as a hotspot for foreign investment.-VNA
