According to the Xinhua News Agency, the President made the commitment in his speech at a ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw for newly-appointed deputy ministers to take office.

He disclosed that his government has been able to keep in touch and hold peace talks with 13 ethnic armed groups under ceasefire already achieved respectively.

However, for the eternal peace in the country, the process is to be discussed at the parliament, he said.

U Thein Sein urged all-out efforts to bring about tangible results in the remaining 30 months of his government’s present five-year term of office.

He stressed that high priorities will be given to fulfilling the basic and socio- economic need of the people, citing such areas as electricity supply, adequate drinking and irrigation water, small and medium- sized enterprises and industrial development for creating more job opportunities.

In the national economic development drive, he said more measures will be taken to assure regional security, peace and stability and the rule of law.
