proposing to apply a proportional representation system in electing
parliamentary representatives in the next general election in 2015.
The bill, submitted by parliamentarians representing the National Democratic Force Party, was passed with vote of 117-85.
Despite objections by parliamentarians of the opposition parties, the military and some other ethnic parties, who argue the bill will complicate the current system, the majority of lawmakers from the ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party voted in favour of the proposal.
