National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung on October 13 attended a ceremony launching the 2014-2015 academic year at the Hanoi-based People’s Police Academy.

With over 1,200 staff members, the academy has enrolled more than 40,000 undergraduates and postgraduates since its inception in 1968.

In the new school year, it receives more than 1,000 freshmen, nearly 400 postgraduates and over 400 officers from Vietnam and other countries.

Congratulating the academy on its outstanding achievements, Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed the utmost importance of guaranteeing political stability, national security, and social order and safety in the national construction and defence.

He highlighted major missions tasked on police forces amidst the complicated security and order situation, hostile forces’ plots to cause social instability, and the growing organised and transnational crime.

The leader asked the academy to better its organisational structure, education-training quality, along with the effectiveness of scientific-technological research activities in order to give valuable security-related advice to the Party, State and the Ministry of Public Security.-VNA
