The National Assembly of Vietnam is ready to set up relations with the Lithuanian legislative body to share experience, especially in legislation and supervision.

NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung made the affirmation while receiving newly appointed Lithuanian ambassador Lina Antanaviciene in Hanoi on Feb. 22.

The NA Chairman suggested the two countries soon establish the inter-governmental mechanism on economic-trade cooperation to further boost their trade ties as bilateral trade has yet to match its potential.

The two countries’ governments and legislative bodies should strengthen exchanges of visits of high-ranking delegations, parliamentarian groups and officials to increase mutual understanding, he said, adding that he hopes the ambassador will act as a bridge to boost bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Lina Antanaviciene asked the two countries to develop a joint cooperative plan to enhance each country’s economic development.

She also agreed that the countries should be more active in strengthening cooperative programmes.

The Lithuanian diplomat said she hopes that Vietnamese agencies will support her efforts in fostering the two countries’ friendship.-VNA
