Nay Pyi Taw (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked the Vietnamese Embassy in Myanmar to work to get the host country’s support for Vietnamese businesses’ stable and long-term operations there.

She made the remark at a meeting with the embassy staff and representatives of Vietnamese enterprises in Myanmar on October 1 during her visit to the ASEAN country.

She told them that Myanmar is a very important partner of Vietnam and Vietnam has become a crucial investor and trader of Myanmar. The two countries’ traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation have unceasingly been stepped up across sectors over years.

She attributed those attainments largely to the efforts made by the Vietnamese Embassy, businesses and overseas Vietnamese in Myanmar.

The leader asked the embassy staff to pay due attention to citizen protection in the context of regional and global complexities.

“The embassy should work with relevant agencies to organise Vietnamese classes for children of the expats, as part of effort to draw the expats’ attention to the homeland while preserving and promoting the national identity,” she said.

Ngan praised the Vietnamese community and businesses in Myanmar for their contributions to the host country’s economic development as well as the relations between Vietnam and Myanmar.
