Ba Ria – Vung Tau (VNA) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a working session with leaders of Cai Mep-Thi Vai and Baria Serece ports in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on September 5.

Acknowledged proposals of the ports’ leaders, the Chairwoman said the province needs to update data in the medium-term public investment planning for 2016-2020 in order to propose the Government and then submit it to the National Assembly for the approval of allocation of the medium-term funding, which helps address difficulties on transport infrastructure development.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has so far put into operation 28 out of the 57 seaport projects with a combined capacity of 98.9 million tonnes per year and a total wharf length of 11.6 kilometres.

In the Cai Mep – Thi Vai port complex alone, 17 out of 35 projects have been operational with a combined capacity of 93 million tonnes per year. The seven container ports have a capacity of 68 TEUs annually.

Earlier the day, Chairwoman Ngan visited war veterans at the Long Dat centre for nursing war invalids and those who contributed to revolutionary cause in Long Hai town, Long Dien district.

She also a house commemorating martyr Vo Thi Sau, a national heroine who fought against the French troops and was executed by them, in Dat Do town, Dat Do district.-VNA
