Northern Nam Dinh province has mapped out the construction of the 13,950-hectare Ninh Co sea economic zone spanning Hai Hau and Nghia Hung districts as the driving force behind the future development of the locality.

The project was approved by the Prime Minister to be added to the national master plan for coast economic zones by 2020.

Once fully operational, Ninh Co is expected to become an international hub in industry, tourism, trade and sea ports, contributing 20 percent to the provincial gross domestic product.

As part of the future hub, Rang Dong textile industrial park has the potential to annually produce 1 billion metres of cloth, creating 100,000 jobs and generating 2 trillion VND (92 million USD) for the local budget. Construction of the IP is slated to begin in May.

According to the provincial Transport Department Director Le Nguyen Khinh, Nam Dinh also prioritises transportation infrastructure projects with an aim to connect Ninh Co with other provinces nationwide, including the Cau Gie-Ninh Binh highway and Lach Giang channel linking the Ninh Co and Day Rivers.-VNA
