By May 20, localities nationwide had completed preparations for the elections of deputies to the 13 th National Assembly and People’s Council at all levels for the 2011-2016 term.

The election preparations were implemented synchronously, promptly, seriously and responsibly by levels and branches from central to local, and in line with legal regulations.

Implementing the NA Standing Committee’s examination plan, the Election Council has so far organised three examinations of the implementation of election work.

The council has issued 14 resolutions on holding early elections in several constituencies in 13 cities and provinces, and late elections of communal People’s Council representatives in Pha Mu commune, Than Uyen district and Lai Chau province.

From May 3-18, the Fatherland Front at all levels held meetings between candidates and voters to court the electorate. The meetings took place in an open, frank and constructive atmosphere, laying foundations for voters to select deserving deputies.

The information and popularisation work for the elections has been actively implemented by localities nationwide with diverse and plentiful forms such as posters and banners in residential areas and polling stations, as well as mass media and artistic activities.

The settlement of complaints and denunciation relating to elections has been also implemented in line with regulations.

In general, preparations for the elections have been made actively and carefully, promoting the strength of the whole political system from central level to the grass roots.

Tens of millions of voters nationwide are expected to vote for deputies of the 13 th NA and People’s Council at all levels for the 2011-2016 term at 91,438 constituencies in 63 cities and provinces on May 22.

The voters will select 500 NA deputies and 301,954 representatives of People’s Council at all levels./.
