Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam received office equipment, worth 2 million Chinese yuan (nearly 290,200 USD), as a gift from the Chinese Government at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 31.

Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc received the gift on behalf of the Vietnamese parliament.

He noted the gift was the idea of Chairman of the National People’s Congress of China Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang during his official visit to Vietnam in November 2016.

“This is a meaningful present and an encouragement for the Vietnamese NA,” Phuc said.

Since the countries set up diplomatic ties in 1956, exchanges have been promoted in all aspects. Notably, the two legislative bodies signed a cooperation agreement in December 2015, creating a legal foundation and heralding a new stage of development in parliamentary cooperation.

Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong highlighted growing Chinese-Vietnamese ties, adding that both sides need to work together to bring their Party-to-Party and State-to-State relations to a new height.-VNA
