The 2013 National Muay Championship opened in the southern province of Binh Phuoc on May 27, drawing the participation of over 100 martial artists from 18 clubs nationwide.

The athletes compete in 16 weight categories, including ten for men and six for women, by knock-outs.

The competition will run until May 31.

Muay, or Thai boxing, is a kind of traditional martial arts from Thailand . Made debut in 1774 under the name Muay Boran, it has developed across the world and been included in some international tournaments such as the World Championships, the Asian Championships and the Southeast Asia (SEA) Games.-VNA
