The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on January 14 announced that the banking system had disbursed 758.7 billion VND (35.626 million USD) of the 30 trillion VND housing support package to 1,765 customers as of December 31, 2013.

Earlier, banks committed to offer loans to 1,789 customers with a total capital of 1.881 trillion VND (88.4 million USD).

As many as 1,759 individuals have borrowed totalling 424.7 billion VND (19.96 million USD).

The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) recorded the highest disbursement of 146.5 billion VND (69.46 million USD), followed by the Vietnam Bank for Foreign Trade with 128 billion VND (6.01 million USD).

The lowest disbursement was seen in the Mekong Housing Bank with 6.2 billion VND (2.91 million USD).

The SBV also said it has confirmed registration from three banks - BIDV, Bank for Industry and Trade, and Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development - to sign contracts valued at 1.238 trillion VND (58.186 million USD) with 12 enterprises, accounting for 13.8 percent of the total capital for housing for businesses.

So far, 333.9 billion VND (15.69 million USD) has been disbursed to six firms, it said.

Last year, the SBV announced a 30 trillion VND (1.42 billion USD) package for housing support.-VNA
