Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s University of Transport Technology (UTT) and Sapa Thale Company of Germany on May 5 signed an agreement on cooperation in training, human resources development, scientific research and transport technology transfer.

Under the agreement, UTT and Sapa Thale will work together closely to develop smart traffic solutions, thus improving public transport systems and reducing negative impacts on the environment in Vietnam.

Addressing the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho said the agreement is hoped to offer a great chance for UTT to speed up its development and international integration, as well as providing high-quality human resources for the transport sector.

UTT Rector Dao Van Dong said through its cooperative ties with Sapa Thale, his university expects to expand cooperation with domestic and foreign enterprises.

UTT is cooperating with universities and businesses of France, Japan, the US, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, China, Russia and Laos, he stressed, adding that these cooperative relations have helped the university improve the quality of training and research activities, and promote application of solutions studied by UTT.

On this occasion, a new car-hailing service booking app for smart phones called “APPP” was launched. The app was jointly developed by researchers from UTT and Sapa Thale with funding provided by the German company.

The app is expected to make it easier for both passengers and drivers to book car services and seek customers, meeting the increasing transport demand in Vietnam.-VNA
