Hanoi saw an increasing number of businesses using the Vietnam Automated Cargo and Port Consolidated System and the Vietnam Customs Information System (VNACCS/VCIS) since the system’s launch in the city in early April.

As many as 6,100 enterprises have joined the system over the past four months, having their 201,325 declarations processed, which made up about 99 percent of the total customs declarations handled by the municipal customs branches.

According to the municipal customs agency, the number of declarations made was up 23 percent compared to the figure recorded a year earlier.

The success was significantly attributed to efforts of the municipal customs agency in addressing difficulties facing enterprises when using the system.

VNACCS/VCIS, worth nearly 2.7 billion JPY (21.2 million USD) funded by the Japanese Government, ran in all 34 provincial and municipal customs sub-departments across the country from June 30.

The new automated customs system is able to deal with declarations within three seconds. Via VNACCS/VCIS, businesses can make customs declarations at anytime and anywhere, thus saving time and paper procedures.-VNA
