The new cabinet of Indonesia will be announced in early October and officially make debut on the 20 th day of the month, according to a senior advisor to President-elect Joko Widodo.

Luhut Panjaitan said that all eyes are now on Widodo’s selection the coordinating minister for economic affairs, who will deal with problems in Southeast Asia ’s biggest economy such as an increasing current account deficit, falling investment and slow economic growth.

The most urgent task of the new minister is to cut huge fuel subsidies that raise budget deficit, he said.

Among the candidates are former Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Bank of Indonesia (BI) Governor Agus Martowardojo, and former BI Governor Darmin Nasution.-VNA
