With major breakthroughs such as a larger screen, more powerful configuration and slimmer body, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are expected to set off a new iPhone fever in the Vietnamese market, according to an article published on the English language news portal VietNamNet Bridge on September 11.

Doan Van Hieu Em, Phone Branch Director of The Gioi Di Dong, the country’s largest hi-tech product distribution chain, believes the two newly launched iPhone models will sell very well in Vietnam, because they have innovations that fit users’ tastes.

He said the larger screens, 4.7 inches for iPhone 6 and 5.5 inches for iPhone 6 Plus, and improved configuration, will attract Vietnamese users, who look forward to larger screens, which will allow them to surf on the web and play games more easily.

“I believe that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, like their predecessors, will create a ‘bout of sales fever’ in Vietnam and sales will be very good,” Em said, adding that more and more Vietnamese like Apple’s products as Apple has conducted several activities in the Vietnamese market.

Nguyen Anh Van from CellphoneS, also a large phone distributor, commented that Apple now can offer what users want - larger screens – and this is enough to attract users.

However, Van was cautious when being asked about the potential sales of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

“It is really unpredictable if they can sell well as there are many choices for customers nowadays,” he said.

“There are many smartphone models with powerful configurations, larger screens and reasonable prices, and they all bear strong brands,” he added. “Meanwhile, the selling prices of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are believed to be relatively high.”

Apple’s fan comments on Tinh Te, GSM and Macintosh.vn forums show that the innovations of the next-generation iPhones are not a surprise, because the new features, from design to screen size, are nearly the same as predicted.

The only difference is that Apple did not make a 32 GB version for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. There are only 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions.

Vu Hoang Nam, an information technology (IT) engineer, said he likes iPhone 6 because of its slim design. While the “predecessor” iPhone 5S has a 7.6 mm thick body, iPhone 6 is thinner with a 6.9 mm body, and thinner than iPhone 6 Plus’ 7.1 mm.

However, he is not sure if he would buy iPhone 6, because the model is not equipped with the Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) like iPhone 6 Plus.

The Gioi Di Dong reported that 12,577 Vietnamese customers placed orders for iPhone 6 from August 26 to September 4 at a price of 18 million VND assumed by the distributor. There has been no information about delivery date.

Meanwhile, Gia Dinh Vietnam newspaper quoted some experts as saying that iPhone 6 would be priced at roughly 20 million VND.

Other distribution chains have also begun taking orders from customers. TechOne in Hanoi promises a discount of 1 million VND, while Halo in Ho Chi Minh City is taking orders until September 30, promising a discount rate of 60 percent to a number of lucky customers.-VNA
