A ground-breaking ceremony was held on August 25 for a 1.2 billion VND (53,232 USD) kindergarten in Truong Son commune in Quang Ninh district, one of the poorest localities in the central province of Quang Binh .

This is part of the “Cung nhau xay dung tuong lai” (Building the future together) programme jointly organised by Prudential Vietnam, Plan Vietnam and Saigon Children’s Charity, which has helped build 18 kindergartens valuing at 25 billion VND (1.1 million USD) nationwide.

The two-classroom kindergarten with modern facilities is scheduled to complete at the end of this year, giving a high-quality learning condition for local children.

Currently, mountainous Truong Son commune, with the ratio of poor households reaching 52 percent, mostly from the Van Kieu ethnic minority group, has an only kindergarten.

Also on August 25, the military-run Viettel Group also handed over a 7 billion VND (310,520 USD) primary school to Tien Phong commune in Tien Phuoc district, the central province of Quang Nam.

Covering an area of over 1,000 square metres, the school has 10 classrooms with full equipment.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, Viettel Group plans to present 1,040 scholarship worth more than 1 billion VND to poor students with good academic performance in difficult localities across Quang Nam.-VNA
