Jakarta (VNA) – The Norwegian government has pledged support for Indonesia’s green economic development through comprehensive, sustainable and environmentally-friendly programmes.

General Director of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Yvo de Boer said Norway will continue its support package of 19 million USD channeled through the programmes which have been carried out by GGGI and Indonesia’s National Development Planning Board (Bappenas) since 2013.

After success of the first phase, the two countries have signed an agreement in Oslo on financing the green development project’s second phase including investment in the fields of renewable energy, special economic zone and forestry.

Indonesia has praised support of the European country, stating that green economic development is the right solution to climate change, particularly problems caused by forest and peat land fires.-VNA
