- Online shopping is developing strongly in Malaysia, according to local media.

Smartphones are the devices of choice for online shopping among Malaysians, the Malaysian New Straits Times newspaper reported on December 15.

This was also the trend forecasted for 2017 from online marketplace 11street (www.11street.my), according to 11street chief executive officer Hoseok Kim.

The survey, conducted on over 3,500 respondents showed that Malaysian consumers are increasingly comfortable with making online payments.

In 2016, the top three purchase categories were fashion and beauty, electronics, and sports and hobbies.

In 2017, consumers are likely to explore home decor and furniture, household and groceries, and health and supplements, according to Kim.-VNA
