Overseas Vietnamese (OV) and local entrepreneurs will gather at a meeting in Da Lat city of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong from August 6-9 to exchange business experience and seek new cooperation opportunities.

This year’s meeting, the second of its kind, is expected to draw the participation of nearly 250 OV businessmen from 30 nations and territories, and 100 representatives from local small and medium-sized enterprises.

Addressing a press conference informing the envent in Hanoi on August 1, Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) Nguyen Thanh Son said the meeting aims to connect Vietnamese entrepreneurs abroad with local people in business, developing the business community, and contributing to building and developing the country.

It will also create opportunities for OV representatives to meet with their partners in home localities to discuss integrating products into global market chains, he added.

A seminar on cooperative investment and trade opportunities, an exchange with OV entrepreneur representatives, and an exhibition honouring outstanding business achievements will also be held.

O ver 3,600 OV companies have to date invested in 51 cities and provinces nationwide, with total capital of 8.6 billion USD. Vietnamese overseas remittances in 2012 surpassed 10 billion USD, the seventh largest amount of remittances of any country in the world.-VNA
